Happy trails!

For several years, our signature flag has been seen from Smygehuk to Treriksröset. In 2026, The Via Suecia is celebrating its 5th anniversary and every registered hiker will be issued The Flag. It started one winter to make people driving snowmobiles aware of skiers and since then it has followed whenever our crew is hiking The Trail.
The Flag also acts like a real ice-breaker – people you meet will ask about you and The Trail so its a great way of connecting. It’s also a bit shnazzy having The Flag on a stick in front of your tent.
And it’s also a great motivator when the going gets tough and the goal seems far away. So welcome to Via Suecia – The Swedish trail, looking forward hearing from you soon.

It is with great pleasure I can inform you guys that the whole of The Via Suecia has been filmed. In the last week of August 2025 the final section from Abisko to Treriksröset was filmed. A total of 10 parts, from hut to hut, so you can prepare yourself.
This final section takes you through Norway to Pältsastugan and Treriksröset. You’ll be able to access the films on YouTube, here is part 10:

The final section from Abisko/Björkliden to Treriksröset was filmed in the last week of August 2025. This section goes partly in Norway, where you can stay in the modern DNT huts if you want to. Nota bene: you need to be a member of the DNT and lend a hut key (small fee). More info here. I’m looking into an alternative route for those of you who wish to hike only within the Swedish borders. More info to come.
You’ll find the vids here.

If you choose to hike the last part of The Via Suecia through Norway, that is from Abisko to Treriksröset, you will meet the Norwegian way of hiking and their huts. The standard and comfort is much higher than in Sweden. Read more about it here.
